在基础阶段、尤其是启蒙阶段的英语教学中，英语学习内容与孩子心智发展不匹配的问题一直是比较突出的。其实，说得通俗点，就是给孩子看的英语内容都是些小儿科，比如明明已经上小学了，还在教他们：what's this? it's an apple. what's that? it's a ruler.这些东西要不要学？当然要学，但如果整天来来去去就是这些，那学生当然会觉得索然无味。都已经是大孩子了，还谈这些小娃的话题，未免太小看人了吧！

这里的programmable、capable、complex、automatically等，都不是启蒙阶段的小朋友能看的懂的。

语言简单导致内容简单，进而使得学生失去兴趣，内容水平提高导致语言难度增加，学生无法理解，也是寸步难行，更不会有兴趣。把英语当成外语来学习的国内孩子，英语阅读就在这样的怪圈中打转，长期难以提高。

当然，随着出版业的发展，现在越来越多的基础阶段、启蒙阶段英语读物已经注意到了这个问题，并且开始着手解决。比如著名的苏斯博士绘本，就是用几百个最基本的英语单词，讲述了一个又一个饶有兴趣的故事。

那么，故事可以用最基本的单词来解释，科学知识能不能用简单的词汇来说明呢？这方面，同样有人在做出巨大的努力，并且取得了一定的成效。今天我就来给大家介绍一套优秀的原版儿童英语阅读：let's read and find out science.

这是一套harper collins出版集团推出的经典作品，分为1、2两辑，第1辑40本，第2辑78本，总共118本。分别有pdf版本和mp3配套。
